Hi, I’m Crystal and I’m an artist based on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia.
While I grew up in WA, I have been fortunate to travel this vast and majestic country in a van with my young family, gaining experiences and exploring ideas around identity.
I am mainly self-taught and have been drawing ever since I can remember. I am greatly inspired by the beauty I find whilst traveling, when I’m out in nature, and within the rich diversity of our cultures. I wish to always remain open to learning and growing, building on my experiences and creating opportunity for fresh perspectives. My life so far has inspired me to create colourful and dynamic portraits that reflect strength, femininity, and connection to place — especially celebrating women and the powerful stories they carry.
Art making has been an outlet for me, a way to create meaningful connections and to tell stories. I use layers of pastels and mixed media materials to build depth and texture and to reflect emotion in my work. In a world where we are often divided, I want my work to speak to unity and the shared experience of being human.
My portraits are a tribute to resilience, culture, and the beautiful threads that link us all. I truly believe we are all connected — and I hope my work serves as a gentle reminder of that.
